Three Seeds Worth Planting in 2026

A Gentle Start to 2026

It’s that first quiet week of the new year – some people are already back at work, others are still making the most of a few final days off.

It’s a funny time, isn’t it?

Part of you feels the urge to charge forward, while another part knows you probably need one more slow morning before the year really begins.

So instead of diving straight into big goals or long lists, I want to offer something simple.

Think of this week as planting season.

A time to plant three small seeds that can quietly grow through the year ahead.

Seed #1 – Learn Something New 🌱

Every year, pick one thing you want to genuinely master.

Not skim, not dabble – master.

It might be feasibility analysis, understanding planning codes or learning how to structure a solid JV.

Knowledge compounds, just like money. The more you understand how the pieces fit together, the more confident and capable you become.

Inside our community, I’ve watched investors transform simply by committing to one area of focus for a few months – not ten.

So this year, choose your topic and go deep.

That’s how you build real capability, not just content overload.

Seed #2 – Strengthen Your Connections 🤝

Property can feel lonely if you’re trying to do it all yourself… but it doesn’t have to be.

The most successful investors I know aren’t necessarily the smartest – they’re the best connected.

They’ve built a circle of people they can call for advice, support or even partnership when the right deal appears.

If 2025 was your year of research, make 2026 your year of relationships.

Come along to a meetup, reconnect with old contacts or reach out to someone who’s a few steps ahead of you.

When you grow your circle, you grow your confidence.

Seed #3 – Take One Simple Action 🚀

Momentum doesn’t come from planning – it comes from movement.

Before the holidays fade completely, take one small step that sets your year in motion.

– Run a feaso.
– Book that coffee with your broker.
– Review your finances.
– Even mapping your 2026 goals on a page can start the wheels turning.

You don’t need to overhaul everything in January – you just need to move.

Small steps compound faster than perfect plans.

The Power of Planting Early

There’s an old saying I love:

“When’s the best time to plant an apple tree? Twenty years ago.
When’s the second-best time? Today.”

That one rings true for me in more ways than one.

Since moving onto a few acres with the family, we’ve been literally planting trees for the future – along with a growing crew of chickens and bees that remind me daily that good things take time.

You can’t rush a tree.

You just plant it, nurture it and trust that it’ll grow when the season’s right.

Your property goals work the same way.

The best time to start was probably years ago.

The second-best time is right now.

A Thought for Those Ready to Grow Deeper

If one of your goals this year is to create structure, accountability and real progress in your property journey, stay tuned.

In a few weeks, I’ll be opening applications for the next intake of Inner Circle Mentoring (ICM) – a small group program where I work closely with investors who want to take the next leap with guidance and clarity.

If you’d like to be first on the waiting list, just reply to this email and I’ll make sure you’re at the front of the queue when applications open.

No rush, no pressure – just a chance to start your year with purpose and support.

For now, focus on planting those three seeds: learning, connection and action… and give them the attention they deserve.

Final Reflection

This week doesn’t need to be about resolutions or routines.

It’s about planting good seeds and trusting they’ll grow.

Start slow, stay consistent and by this time next year, you’ll be amazed at what’s taken root.

Cheers,
Matt
